Why do you practice Thai Bodywork?
To help people in their everyday lives. Thai Bodywork just makes you feel better, gives you better range of motion, being stretched by someone else (passive stretching) helps you in a different way than yoga.
Why do you teach Thai Bodywork?
Teaching Thai Bodywork helps me expand students’ minds. I love seeing their faces when they have completed their 10-week or 5-week course. They have such a sense of accomplishment and confidence to go out and help people.
What can I expect from a session with you?
In a Thai Bodywork session, you will experience great relief. Most times I will start at the feet and work my way up the body. If I feel there is somewhere different I should begin or if you have a specific ailment then it may change.
What makes your Thai Bodywork sessions unique?
I have been doing Thai Bodywork for over two years now. This \is not your normal Thai Bodywork. It is on a table! This usually confuses other Thai Therapists. They ask why I do not work on the floor. I tell them that I find floor work limits the full range of motion of the body. When lying on the floor you cannot go past a certain point. The table lifts them off the ground and allows for full range of motion, especially if you have been practicing yoga or gymnastics and have great stretching capabilities. In addition, working on the table allows those who cannot get up easily — like those up in years or people with an injury that does not allow them to pick themselves up from the floor — to be able to sit and lay down with ease.
Who or what inspires you?
Health, better movement, and love of what I do.
Favorite Thai Bodywork stretch:
My favorite would have to be the “Cross-Town”. When you get this done to you, you feel like a new person.
Least favorite Thai Bodywork stretch:
The stretches I do not like are the ones that are a lot of work for the therapist, but do not do much for the client, like the “Intimate Back Stretch.”
Birthday:
November 23
Hometown:
Chicago, IL but I have lived in both WI and OH.
What is your wish for your clients during a session with you?
A better understanding of themselves and how their body feels. Feel free to ask me questions during a session; you do not have to “zone out” in order to get tremendous relief.
Do you practice yoga?
I am more of a Tai Chi Ch'uan person. It has greatly improved my balance and awareness as a person.
Favorite bodywork experiences:
I love when people get off the table and just say “Wow, that was amazing! I have never felt like this before.” Then we have some tea and they discuss how different they feel and what they can do at home to keep this feeling going.
What else do you do... besides Thai Bodywork?
I like to practice Tai Chi Ch'uan, and study about Bodywork techniques and methods. Also, I love to dance like there is no tomorrow!
